Weather Related Openings and Closings – 2026

01/22/26

Dear Princeton Charter School parents,

With the forecast calling for a big storm over the weekend, snow is likely to have an impact on school on Monday, so I wanted to remind everyone of the snow day procedures.  We follow the Princeton Public School district (PPS) in all snow related and weather related school closings, i.e. if Princeton Public Schools close due to snow, so do we.

I typically receive a call from the district transportation supervisor indicating what the decision is on school closing, a delayed opening (or an early dismissal).  This usually occurs in the early morning for that day, but may also occur the evening before.

Parents and staff are notified via voice message, sms message, and email as soon as we are informed by PPS.  We will also post any school closings on the website.  As a last resort, you can also check the Princeton Public School District website – if they are closed due to weather/snow, then so are we.

As stated, we may be closed or delayed on Monday.  Public Schools in NJ are required to have 180 days of school.  Half days count towards the 180 day requirement as a full day.  We have 181 days in our current calendar, so if we have one snow day, there will be no change in the calendar.  If there is a second day, we will need to “take back” Monday, April 6 at the end of spring break as a day of classes.  Following that, we will need to add days onto the end of the year.

We will see what happens this weekend.  Until then, please keep warm and safe!

Sincerely,

-Larry Patton
