Princeton Charter School (PCS) opened as a new public charter school in September 1997. In April of 2002, PCS become the first charter school in the nation accredited by the American Academy of Liberal Education, and in September 2004, the United States Department of Education named PCS a “No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School,” recognizing the school as a national model of excellence.

The school offers 424 students in kindergarten through grade eight an academically rigorous education. The school campus is located in Princeton Township, New Jersey.

NOTE: New Jersey law requires all public-school teachers to obtain a New Jersey teaching certificate or “Alternate Route” provisional license, which allows individuals to teach for one year while completing required short courses in essential areas of professional knowledge and skills. Alternate-route certificate holders are encouraged to apply, and PCS may be able to expedite the certification for experienced teachers. Certificates from other states are usually accepted after verification of course work and documentation of one year of full-time teaching experience. Information about permanent and provisional licenses may be obtained by applying to the State of New Jersey, Department of Education, Office of Licensing and Academic credentials, CN 500, Trenton, NJ 08625-0500 (add Attn: Alternate Route if applicable). NOTE: New Jersey law requires all public-school substitute teachers for Mercer County Schools to record their teaching certificate with, or obtain a county substitute teaching certificate from, the Mercer County Superintendent of Schools prior to employment. County substitute teaching certificates can be issued to persons who can present a minimum of 60 semester-hour credits completed in an accredited college. You will need to provide official transcripts of your course work.

Tutors, After-School Tutors and Assistant Teachers

Princeton Charter School periodically seeks tutors to help children during school and during the after-school program each day.

The after-school hours are from 3:15 to 6:00 P.M. every day, and from 12:00 to 6:00 P.M. on early-dismissal days. If you are available from two to five afternoons per week, please send your resume to the Head of School at:
